The session ends at 3:30. The note ends at 9:15.

Every SLP knows the second shift. Tallies on a sticky note, cue levels from memory, and a SOAP note written after the dishes. The numbers below are from ASHA's own member surveys.

On documentation

Field Nine takes the note off your evening. The session is the data.

How it works

Run the session the way you always do. That's the whole workflow.

Nothing in your hands, nothing new to learn mid-session, and no screen between you and the child.

1

Put on the glasses

Field Nine runs on Ray-Ban Meta or Oakley Meta glasses. Open the app, tap record, and start your session. Nothing else changes.

2

The session becomes the data

The glasses see and hear what happens: the target sounds, the cues you gave, the trials, the gestures and AAC exchanges. The app drafts the note and tallies every goal.

3

Review, approve, done

Read the draft, fix anything, approve it, and copy it into your record. You stay the author.

Subjective

K. arrived regulated and engaged. Parent reported practicing /k/ words at home this week.

Objective

Targeted /k/ initial at word level in a card game with minimal verbal cues (17/20). Two-word requests elicited during a farm play routine with a visual cue (12/15). Two-step directions probed in a barrier game without cues (6/8).

Assessment

K. met criterion for /k/ at word level for the second consecutive session and is ready for a phrase-level probe. Two-word requests improved from 60% with a verbal model to 80% with a visual cue.

Plan

Introduce /k/ at phrase level. Fade the visual cue for requests. Continue two-step directions in the barrier game.

Drafted by Field Nine Reviewed and approved by the clinician
1

Trials counted in the room, not at 9pm

The counts and cue levels come from what actually happened. No sticky notes, no reconstructing from memory after dinner.

2

Written against the client's goals

Paste in the plan of care once. Every note after that reports on those goals, in language you can copy straight into your record.

3

You stay the author

The AI drafts. Nothing enters the record until you review and approve it, and you can change any line.

4

Minimally verbal clients, covered

The glasses watch as well as listen. Prompts, gestures, physical responses, and AAC and PECS exchanges get captured alongside speech.

Consent and privacy

Built for the data you're trusted with.

Session data is some of the most sensitive information in a child's record. Here is exactly how Field Nine handles it.

Consent comes first

Every client's parent or guardian signs a consent to record before the first session. We give you the form and help you fit it to your state and setting.

Recordings deleted when you ask

Recordings are encrypted in transit and at rest. We delete them when you ask, or when your agreement with us ends.

A BAA before any data moves

We sign a Business Associate Agreement before any data changes hands. Solo practitioners sign directly with Field Nine. If you're employed, the paperwork runs through your employer and we help with it.

Nothing leaves your control

No PHI is ever accessible to Meta, Facebook or Instagram. Your data is never used to train public AI models. The clinician reviews and approves everything before it enters the record.

Questions

The things SLPs ask first.

Anything missing? Email ben@field9.ai. It goes to the founder, not a ticket queue.

I work for a clinic or a school. Can I still use Field Nine?

Yes, with your employer's OK. Recording a client is a decision your employer needs to be part of, and when you're employed the consent and the BAA usually run through them. Tell us your practice when you sign up and we'll send the right paperwork. Solo practitioners and contractors sign the BAA directly with Field Nine.

I'm an SLPA. Can I sign up?

Yes. SLPAs sign up the same way and get the same free trial. Your supervising SLP reviews your notes the way they do today. Field Nine drafts them so the review is the only step left.

Which glasses do I need?

Ray-Ban Meta or Oakley Meta glasses. If you already own a pair, you're set. The glasses record for about 2 hours on a charge and recharge in about 15 minutes.

I have an iPhone. Does it work?

Yes. The iPhone app installs through TestFlight, Apple's free app for testing new apps. Get TestFlight from the App Store, open the Field Nine invite link on your iPhone, and tap Accept, then Install. Open Field Nine and create your account, or sign in with the email you signed up with here. It needs iOS 17.2 or later. On iPhone you record with the phone's camera.

Do families have to consent to being recorded?

Yes, and we help you get it right. A parent or guardian signs a consent to record before the first session. Consent requirements vary by state and by setting, and we help you fit the form to yours before any session is captured.

What happens to the recordings?

Recordings are encrypted at rest and in transit. We delete them when you ask or when your agreement with us ends. No PHI is ever accessible to Meta, Facebook or Instagram.

Can I trust an AI-drafted note?

Treat it as a draft from a very attentive assistant. The trial counts and cue levels come from what happened in the room, and you review and approve every line before it enters the record. Nothing is final until you say so.

Does it work with my EMR or documentation system?

Notes and goal data are formatted to copy straight into your record, whatever system you use. Field Nine also has an open API built to integrate with any EMR, and direct integrations are rolling out with launch partners. Tell us your EMR when you sign up.

What about non-verbal or minimally verbal clients?

This is exactly why Field Nine watches as well as listens. A tool that only transcribes speech would miss most of a session with a minimally verbal client: the prompts, the gestures, the physical responses, the AAC and PECS exchanges. Because the glasses capture what's seen alongside what's said, those moments still get recorded.

What does it cost after the free trial?

One dollar a session. You buy credits in packs of 20, 40, 80, or 100 on the web or in the Android app, one credit is one session, and nothing renews on its own. During the beta offer we also match every credit you buy with a free one, up to $200 total (first 100 signups). Reviews and referrals add bonus sessions on top.
